{"id":17392,"date":"2014-11-16T23:12:33","date_gmt":"2014-11-16T23:12:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/tanzania-journalists-congratulate-eaja\/"},"modified":"2014-11-16T23:11:58","modified_gmt":"2014-11-16T23:11:58","slug":"tanzania-journalists-congratulate-eaja","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/tanzania-journalists-congratulate-eaja\/","title":{"rendered":"Tanzania journalists congratulate EAJA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{Dar es Salaam (RBC) Tanzanian journalists have congratulated the Eastern Africa Journalists Association (EAJA) for successfully concluding its last week\u2019s Extra-Ordinary Meeting in Bujumbura, Burundi and for strengthening the association\u2019s leadership.}<\/p>\n<p>The journalists, through the chairman of the interim Committee of the Journalists Union of Tanzania (JUT) Samson Kamalamo also welcomed the election of JUT\u2019s Vice Chairperson   Sophia Ngalapi as EAJA\u2019s Vice President . He also congratulated EAJA for successfully holding a two-day workshop on improving the working conditions of journalists through union capacity building to improve press freedom in the region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe as journalists in Tanzania welcome the ongoing efforts to re-brand and strengthen EAJA through giving it leaders of integrity with the focus to move the organization forward. We are confident that the team elected in Burundi has the capacity to move strengthen the association,\u201d said Kamalamo.<\/p>\n<p>He said the election of Ms. Ngalapi as EAJA\u2019s Vice President not only confirmed the desire of the association towards greater inclusion of all countries in the region on its leadership but pointed to the association\u2019s commitment to implementing resolutions previous made to attain gender parity with the organization.<\/p>\n<p>Sophia Ngalapi is the first Tanzania female journalist to take that position in the association since its establishment.
