{The African Union (AU) has reminded FDLR rebels to lay down arms before January 2, or they will be attacked by the United Nations Force.}<\/p>\n
The call was made by the special envoy of African Union (AU) in the Great Lakes, Boubacar Diarra during a visit in Goma on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Diarra told the Press that \u201cThe FDLR have not fulfilled their commitment to voluntary surrender, now we have to draw the consequences of this non-surrender. There is no ambiguity about our willingness to disarm, eradicate and neutralize the FDLR (…) because it’s the strain of all the difficulties that the province of North Kivu has\u201d <\/p>\n
The special AU envoy reassured the international community to set up a plan of military operations to hunt down the FDLR rebels.<\/p>\n
He added that the international community is more determined than ever to end the problem of FDLR in Kivu. <\/p>\n
Asked whether the international community will facilitate a dialogue between the FDLR rebels and the regime of Kigali, Diarra said that “this issue is not a condition to disarm the FDLR.” <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
