{South Sudan leader, Gen Salva Kiir is set to travel to Khartoum to meet his Sudanese counterpart, Omar Bashir as fighting worsens in Upper Nile State, Chimp Corps report.}<\/p>\n
Officials said Kiir will hold a \u201ccandid discussion\u201d with Bashir on reports that he is funneling arms to Dr Riek Machar\u2019s rebel movement.<\/p>\n
Since the outbreak of war in the youngest nation in the world in December last year, SPLA troops have fallen short of defeating Machar\u2019s insurgents.<\/p>\n
And in recent battles, rebels have been able to use sophisticated weapons to humiliate government troops.<\/p>\n
Rebel spokesperson, Brig. Lul Koang during the weekend weapons were recovered from SPLA following gun battles in Dolieb Hills, Zinc and Acheb-Nil on October 10, 2014.<\/p>\n
The ability of the rebels to sustain a stiff military resistance has raised concerns of possible financial and logistical support from Khartoum.<\/p>\n
Sudan also accuses Juba of supporting rebels opposed to Bashir\u2019s regime.<\/p>\n
South Sudan Foreign Affairs spokesperson Mawein Makol confirmed Kiir\u2019s planned trip but could delve into details.<\/p>\n
He, however, said the two principals would discuss the controversy surrounding the ownership of the border oil-rich town of Abyei.<\/p>\n
This followed Sudan\u2019s announcement that Abyei would be included among her constituents in the upcoming general elections, a move Juba believes is provocative.<\/p>\n
Peace talks aimed at finding a local solution to South Sudan\u2019s political problems are yet to bear fruit.<\/p>\n
