{A Belgium couple is facing jail time for allegedly neglecting six children, three of them their own, while dealing heroin out of their home.}<\/p>\n
Robin Eversmann, 36, and Dawn Eversmann, 30, 220 S. Middle Road, have been charged in Ozaukee County Circuit Court with three counts each of misdemeanor child neglect-party to a crime. If convicted, they each face up to 27 months in jail and up to $30,000 in fines.<\/p>\n
According to a news release sent Thursday from the Ozaukee County Sheriff\u2019s Office and a criminal complaint filed last week:<\/p>\n
Robin and Dawn Eversmann were arrested in early September by the Ozaukee County Sheriff Drug Task Force and Sheriff\u2019s Detectives.<\/p>\n
The arrest followed a week-long investigation where police observed Robin Eversmann selling heroin to an undercover Sheriff\u2019s Deputy from his Belgium home and in a parking lot in Port Washington, all while he had up to six children \u2014 ranging in ages from 2 to 9 years old \u2014 in the home or in the vehicle at the time of the sales.<\/p>\n
An inspection of the home revealed that the couple\u2019s three children \u2014 ages 2, 7 and 8 \u2014 had no beds of their own and there were excessive amounts of belongings piled up throughout the house, making it difficult to move around. Two of the children were later diagnosed with scabies, likely due to the uncleanliness of the home and poor hygiene.<\/p>\n
Police also found several weapons \u2014 including a machete and a dozen pellet guns \u2014 left within reach of the children. In the bathroom, several drug paraphernalia items were accessible to the children as well.<\/p>\n
After the arrest, the children were placed in protective custody. Sheriff\u2019s detectives and Ozaukee County Child Protective Services currently are conducting a joint investigation into the drug-endangered children.<\/p>\n
