{Sergeant Ngabu Mangudji who was driving the 4X4 vehicle carrying Col. Mamadou Ndala at the time of the attack that killed him has appeared Wednesday 1 October at the trial of the alleged killers of the former commander of the 42nd commando battalion of rapid reaction units of the Congolese army.}<\/p>\n
Ndala\u2019s Driver admitted that he had his boss\u2019s cell phone after his death. <\/p>\n
Initially, twenty people will be called to testify in the trial being held in a public place in Beni, a town about 350 km from Goma. <\/p>\n
The convoy of Colonel Mamadou Ndala was attacked on January 2nd 2014 and the body of Colonel was found burned. <\/p>\n
The open trial is to clarify the circumstances of the attack, the killers and their motive.
\nIn his testimony before the court, the first witness, Sergeant Ngabu Mangudji told the prosecutor that Colonel Ndala jeep caught fire during the attack. <\/p>\n
He also admitted that he kept the cell phone of the murdered officer.<\/p>\n
Further hearings are scheduled Thursday. <\/p>\n
In Kinshasa, the spokesman for MONUSCO, Antoine Charles Bambara said the section of Human Rights of the UN Mission is supporting the conduct of the trial.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
