{Kigali international Arbitration centre launched a mediation week where it will be helping people to settle their disputes free of charge.}<\/p>\n
In the press conference held on 22nd September 2014, KIAC explained that it’s main function is to administer arbitration and mediation services, to encourage arbitration and mediation as a way of settling and resolving disputes. <\/p>\n
In her speech, Uwicyeza Bernadette the secretary general of KIAC said Rwandans should learn how to solve their disputes other than running to the courts, “we aim higher in making Rwanda an international dispute resolution venue\u201d She said<\/p>\n
KIAC normally charged 250 dollars in mediation cases but this week it will be free of charge.<\/p>\n
KIAC so far has trained 300 professional mediators who will be helping in settling such cases.<\/p>\n
Thierry Ngoga, the registrar in KIAC explained the difference of arbitration and mediation where he emphasized that mediation is a flexible process conducted confidentially . <\/p>\n
Compared to other international centres, KIAC is on a good level within the two years of it’s start. So far we have received 21 charges and we hope to work better, he added.<\/p>\n
In 2008, there was a study commissioned by PSF recommended a centre established by law, in 2011 KIAC was established as an act of the parliament and in May 2012 KIAC was launched officially and it’s offices are in Gikondo where PSF works from.<\/p>\n
KIAC will be facilitating solutions and moving towards settlement however the settlement agreement should be in a contract approved by both sides.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
