Flame \u2013 real name Marcus T. Gray \u2013 and a three other musicians have filed a lawsuit in St. Louis, Missouri against the 29-year-old singer, accusing her of ripping off their award-winning Christian gospel track \u2018Joyful Noise\u2019 for her hit song \u2018Dark Horse.\u2019<\/p>\n

The 32-year-old rapper claims in court documents that Katy, whose parents are extremely religious, hijacked their music, tarnished it with black magic, witchcraft and paganism, and ruined their reputation in the Christian music world because of the imagery that appears in her music video, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch newspaper.<\/p>\n

Cho\u2019zyn Boy, who is Flame\u2019s DJ, told christian hip-hop website Rapzilla that \u201cWhat listeners are hearing is Katy Perry\u2019s \u2018Dark Horse\u2019 at 66 beats per minute and they\u2019re hearing Flame\u2019s \u201cJoyful Noise\u201d at 76 beats per minute,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhen they\u2019re separated, they seem a bit different, but when you bring them to the same tempo and you just change her pitch down one octave, they\u2019re identical \u2026 When things are that similar, it\u2019s hard to dispute.\u201d<\/p>\n

The group, who released their track five years ago, are seeking unspecified damages and want the \u2018Roar\u2019 singer, who is currently on her \u2018Prismatic World Tour\u2019 to be banned from using any form of their music immediately.<\/p>\n

Following the success of \u2018Dark Horse,\u2019 Katy was crowned the new RIAA Gold & Platinum Program\u2019s top digital artist of all time last week, with 72 million digital singles sold.<\/p>\n

The star co-wrote the track with singer-songwriter Sarah Hudson in her native Santa Barbara, California, and previously claimed it was inspired by the 1996 film \u2018The Craft\u2019 for the song, which is \u201cabout warning a guy that if you\u2019re going to fall in love with me, make sure you\u2019re sure because if not, it\u2019s gonna be your last.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
