John Rutayisire of the Rwanda Education Board and Zaina Nyiramatama of the National Children\u2019s Commission were the Guests of honour at Nyagatare and Kayonza respectively. <\/p>\n<p>The Reading Day Campaign aims to promote a reading culture among young Rwandans. It is a social mobilization campaign also meant to raise awareness among teachers and parents on the importance of reading. <\/p>\n<p>We involve teachers, parents, and the communities in this reading effort, so that they can support and encourage their children to read more young students.<\/p>\n<p>Reading is FUNdamental it: expands knowledge, enhances memory, improves analytical skills and improves writing. <\/p>\n<p>In 2011 Imbuto Foundation launched its Reading promotion campaign. Our Reading promotion campaign is part of the countrywide Rwanda Reads! Campaign. <\/p>\n<p>In partnership with ONE UN, Imbuto Foundation has conducted Reading promotion campaigns in five districts in Rwanda: Gicumbi, Rubavu, Nyanza, Nyagatare, Gasabo and Nyarugenge. <\/p>\n<p>Over 1000 primary school students and 1000 community members have participated in these campaigns. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-6011 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/reading_reading_reading.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-6012 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/children_in_a_reading_session.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-6013 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/little_ones_learning_to_read_more.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{{Imbuto Foundation\u2019s 2014 Reading Day Campaign took place on June 6th in Nyagatare and Kayonza districts. }} The theme is: \u2018Today a reader, tomorrow a leader\u2019.
