{{Over 141 former street children have successfully completed their vocational training in various fields at Iwawa Rehabilitation, Skills Development Centre and have been awarded certificates for their skills in reading and writing}}. <\/p>\n

The certificates were awarded in collaboration with the ministry of Youth and ADEPR church.<\/p>\n

About 607 former street children are being trained on various skills including; reading, writing, and arithmetic. <\/p>\n

After receiving their certificates of completion, the former street children said they had entered a new life.<\/p>\n

Shyirambere Philippe one of the graduates told IGIHE that when he arrived at IWAWA, he was unable to read and write. However, \u201cnow am able to read and write. I don\u2019t consult anyone. I can now write anything on my own.\u201d He commended government and ADEPR authorities for helping him refrain from drug abuse and a bad life on the streets.<\/p>\n

Several of graduates have attained skills including tailoring, construction, carpentry and joinery.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Youth and ICT Jean Philbert Nsengimana presented the certificates to the graduates and advised them to consider continuing with further education because they are able to read and write. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe certificates you have attained are aimed at opening up your eyes and thirst for higher education and advanced skills in various fields\u201d.<\/p>\n

Rev Pastor Jean Sibomana the ADEPR Spokesperson noted that education is a continuous process it never ends, \u201chaving learnt how to read and write English, French, Swahili its necessary that you take a step higher in education to acquire advanced skills,\u201d he said adding that more trainers at IWAWA will be trained to improve the standards at the centre.<\/p>\n

ADEPR notes its committed to teaching the youths at the centre and through out the country to acquire basic reading and writing skills.<\/p>\n
