{"id":14362,"date":"2014-05-10T06:07:20","date_gmt":"2014-05-10T06:07:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/doadoa-connects-region-s-best-artists\/"},"modified":"2014-05-10T06:06:47","modified_gmt":"2014-05-10T06:06:47","slug":"doadoa-connects-region-s-best-artists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/doadoa-connects-region-s-best-artists\/","title":{"rendered":"DOADOA Connects Region\u2019s Best Artists"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DOADOA; the East African Performing Arts Market brings the art to another generation!<\/p>\n<p>Arts practitioners and lovers of all ages have May 7-10 tumble down Jinja Town for this year\u2019s edition. <\/p>\n<p>Doa Doa is a networking, marketing and promotion platform seeking to help East African artistes project their sound outside the region. <\/p>\n<p>The four-day event kicked off in Kampala Uganda, at National Theatre on May 6 and will climax with the Bayimba Regional Festival of the Arts.<\/p>\n<p>Doa is Swahili for spot and according to the programme coordinator, Herman Kabubi, the show intends to put the spot on artistes \u2013 give them a chance to network with various industry stakeholders from all over East Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Seeing different East African acts like Ochieng\u2019 Nelly from Kenya, Swahilli Ally from Tanzania, Santuri Safari DJs, and Christopher and Angel both from Rwanda, among others is no easy fate for any festival organizer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the perfect setting for artists, for both regional and international industry stake holder in the performing arts business to meet and perform, and what a great opportunity for residents to see them in their own backyard,\u201d says Philp Masembe, who is the media coordinator of Bayimba Regional Festival of the Arts.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the high profile delegates headlining the various panel discussions in Jinja include Marion van Dijck from Kenya\u2019s Sawa Sawa Festival, Ben Mandelson, a Producer from WOMEX, the acclaimed world music market and Tabu Osusa from the Kenya-based Ketebul Music label. <\/p>\n<p>Others are Paul Duhaney from the Liverpool-based Africa Oy\u00e9 Festival, Uganda\u2019s Deborah Asiimwe, Coordinator of Sundance EA and Carmela Sinco a Filipino New York-based Composer\/Musician.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-5684 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/eeee-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-5685 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/vf-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-5686 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/wwe-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>redpepper<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DOADOA; the East African Performing Arts Market brings the art to another generation!
