The funds will support Government\u2019s targeted goals within the Economic Development and Poverty reduction strategy (EDPRS 2). Projects to be funded will be agreed by both sides at a later stage. <\/p>\n
The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Claver Gatete noted that China was involved in several areas of Rwanda\u2019s economic development such as infrastructure, health and agriculture.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe exploring ways of enhancing trade between the two countries especially through export promotion and encouraging foreign direct investments in Rwanda,\u201d Minister Gatete said.<\/p>\n
The funds are part of China\u2019s annual grant support to the Government and are expected to be allocated before the end of this year. <\/p>\n
Rwanda\u2019s has had cordial relations with China since 1971 when the first medical team was dispatched to Rwanda in Ngoma district.<\/p>\n
Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda Shen Yong Xiang hailed the strong cooperation as one of mutual benefit and respect.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are looking to build on our long term reliable partnership to enhance trade and investments in both countries,\u201d Ambassador Xiang said.<\/p>\n
Cooperation with China has continued to grow considerably over the years with an estimated financial support of US$ 5 billion in various sectors such as transport, health, agriculture and education. <\/p>\n
This support has benefited projects among others; Kigali Urban Road Upgrading Project (36km), Kibungo Hospital, MINAFFET building.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
