{"id":13105,"date":"2014-03-13T08:37:42","date_gmt":"2014-03-13T08:37:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/rwanda-s-women-drummers-to-export-their-rhythm\/"},"modified":"2014-03-13T08:38:22","modified_gmt":"2014-03-13T08:38:22","slug":"rwanda-s-women-drummers-to-export-their-rhythm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/rwanda-s-women-drummers-to-export-their-rhythm\/","title":{"rendered":"Rwanda\u2019s Women Drummers to export their rhythm abroad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{Following the success of their work, Rwanda\u2019s women drummers of Ingoma Nshya want to export their rhythm abroad starting with Burundi, assured Odile Gakire, president of the group.  } <\/p>\n<p>These 26 women drummers regularly train at Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de Verdure in Huye.<\/p>\n<p> Gakire says members of her group have already acquired land, cows and houses with the money they earned as drummers.<\/p>\n<p>She says in the beginning the work was very difficult due to the cultural constraints where women were not considered to be the best drummers but today things have changed so these women have discovered their potential in drumming.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is not against the tradition to beat the drum as a woman\u201d reassures Mrs. Gakire , <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe talked to the museum officials on the issue and they also encouraged us throughout our journey.
