{"id":12242,"date":"2014-01-27T05:39:34","date_gmt":"2014-01-27T05:39:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/discover-rwanda-youths-hostel-re-opens-again\/"},"modified":"2014-01-27T07:57:49","modified_gmt":"2014-01-27T07:57:49","slug":"discover-rwanda-youths-hostel-re-opens-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/discover-rwanda-youths-hostel-re-opens-again\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Discover Rwanda Youths Hostel&#8217; re-opens again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{Aegis Rwanda on Friday, January 24th 2014 marked the re-opening of the \u201cDiscover Rwanda Youth Hostel after a period of an ambitious renovation and expansion plan.<br \/>\n}<\/p>\n<p>This is a social enterprise of Aegis Trust Rwanda which opened its doors in September 2010.<\/p>\n<p>It trains, empowers genocide survivors, and also generates income for public interest programmes including collection of testimonies, peace, education, and survivors\u2019 support. <\/p>\n<p>Discover Rwanda Youth Hostel is located in the wonderful Kacyiru neighborhood in Kigali, behind the well-known Ikirezi Bookshop. <\/p>\n<p>The hostel has breathtaking views overlooking Kigali\u2019s green Nyarutarama neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p>In August 2013, the Discover Rwanda Youth Hostel undertook an ambitious renovation and expansion project, as a response to its ever increasing popularity and so that more training opportunities and jobs could be provided to Rwandans. <\/p>\n<p>According to its members this re-opening will celebrate the progress made as a result of the expansion project as well showcases the improved and expanded facilities. <\/p>\n<p>Additional rooms of this project have increased the Hostel capacity to host over 60 people \u2013including double en-suite facilities, an expanded bar &#8211; serving a wide variety of drinks, a bistro restaurant, high speed internet access, laundry services and all this within a short walking distance of a VISA ATM and other services.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to IGIHE, the Trip Advisor and reviewer of the hostel \u2018Eoghan W\u2019, said; \u201cI had an amazing time at Discover Rwanda. It is located in a nice area and has an amazing view of Kigali from the outside chilling area\u201c. <\/p>\n<p>The reviewer went on to say; \u201cI could not have wished for a better place to be. Plus when I left it felt like going away from home. I have been here twice and will definitely be back again. \u201cAdded Eoghan W<\/p>\n<p>For demanding customers from a wide variety include &#8211; volunteers, interns, tourists &#8211; of different backgrounds and nationalities, the hostel offers comfort at a very affordable price. <\/p>\n<p>According to Aaron Moskal, a Film Maker from Los Angeles, in the United States of America commented; \u201cGuests are cared for to the highest standards at the most affordable prices.<\/p>\n<p> All the necessary information required about where to explore and what to do, can be found at Discover Rwanda today. <\/p>\n<p>To top it all off, the hostel has an atmosphere like no other  social place, a place with a buzz, a meeting place for people from different parts of the world where they can get to know each other, socialize, share travel tips and even make lasting friendships.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to IGIHE Claire Uwineza, the Managing director of Discover Rwanda Youth Hostel said:\u201dThe re-opening of Discover Rwanda Youth Hostel is a major event and a pride for Aegis Trust in Rwanda. \u201c<\/p>\n<p>It is the proof that we are not relying on external funds but that we are energetically and successfully involved in a process of generating income which supports our social mission and public interest programmes; we constantly seek sustainability and self-reliance\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Aegis Trust is a charity non-government organization which runs the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center located at Gisozi. <\/p>\n<p>The \u201cDiscover Rwanda Youth Hostel\u201d is a Social Enterprise of Aegis Trust, with all proceeds supporting Aegis\u2019 Peace Building and Social Programmes in Rwanda. <\/p>\n<p>In addition, the hostel provides training and career opportunities to help uplift lives of vulnerable genocide survivors in Rwanda. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{Aegis Rwanda on Friday, January 24th 2014 marked the re-opening of the \u201cDiscover Rwanda Youth Hostel after a period of an ambitious renovation and expansion plan. } This is a social enterprise of Aegis Trust Rwanda which opened its doors in September 2010.
