<\/figure>\nThe Minister of Culture and Sports said that good governance is a product of every citizen’s participation and the basis for sustainable development. He further reminded that Rwanda has gone through difficult times, and what we have achieved so far is a result of embracing good governance practices.<\/p>\n
Minister Mitali Protais, called on local leaders, students and citizens to embrace
\n\u201cNdi Umunyarwanda program,\u201d and avoid whatever can divide Rwandans, because Self reliance can not possible without unity and a common Vision.<\/p>\n
Participants were particularly urged to promote activities aimed at preserving what
\nRwanda has achieved – \u201cPeace and security, Unity of all Rwandans, improvement in
\neducation and Health sectors which are among key achievements that foster National
\nDevelopment ultimately leading to Self-reliance,\u201d Minister Mitali emphasized.<\/p>\n
The Minister of Culture and Sports also toured developmental projects including; stone
\npaved roads at Taba, modern market constructed through Public and Private Partnership, modern car park, a model village and the newly refurbished Huye stadium.<\/p>\n
Activities of the governance month that will take place in all districts in the country include: Governance clinics where leaders respond to citizens\u2019 problems and provide solutions, Public lectures and debates on national issues such as: governance, Human Rights, fight against gender based violence, NdiUmunyarwanda Campaign, partnership between Public, Private sector, Civil Society and Media among others.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the launch, Dr Felicien Usengumukiza, RGB Deputy CEO in charge of Governance Research and Monitoring urged citizens to get fully engaged in activities of governance month as it is a way of fostering principles good governance and benefit from leaders and citizens discussions.<\/p>\n
The governance month will also be an opportunity to show case Community development Projects, Youth camp and Umuganda activities, Football competitions for \u2018Umurenge Kagame Cup\u2019, dance, Drama, and many others.<\/p>\n
The Governance month will be concluded with a policy Dialogue on 14th March 2014, meant to examine what was achieved and to set strategies aimed at overcoming Governance challenges that emerged during the period.
