The call comes fortnight ago after a 35-yearl-old fisherman was fatally attacked by a crocodile. Residents learnt about Joseph Ntibarikure\u2019s death when they discovered half of his body floating on the shores of the lake the next day.<\/p>\n
Ntibarikure had gone fishing at night to avoid an arrest.<\/p>\n
Eastern Province Police Spokesperson Senior Superintendent Jean Marie Njangwe said Ntibarikure\u2019s death is saddening, and warned other fishermen to avoid illegal fishing.<\/p>\n
He advised fishermen to seek permission from authorities and also inform colleagues when they go into the waters or go with fishing with a partner.<\/p>\n
Illegal fishing is punishable by law, he SSP Njangwe said.<\/p>\n
