{"id":10679,"date":"2013-09-29T06:21:44","date_gmt":"2013-09-29T06:21:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/world-bank-bans-zoomlion-over-bribes-in-liberia\/"},"modified":"2013-09-29T06:20:53","modified_gmt":"2013-09-29T06:20:53","slug":"world-bank-bans-zoomlion-over-bribes-in-liberia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/world-bank-bans-zoomlion-over-bribes-in-liberia\/","title":{"rendered":"World Bank Bans Zoomlion Over Bribes in Liberia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{{The World Bank Group has placed a ban on Zoomlion Ghana Limited for two years over alleged bribery in Liberia.}}<\/p>\n<p>The bribery allegation involved the World Bank-financed Emergency Monrovia Urban Sanitation Project.<\/p>\n<p>According to a report published on the World Bank&#8217;s website, Zoomlion paid bribes to facilitate contract execution and processing of invoices.<\/p>\n<p>Accordingly, Zoomlion will not qualify for any contract financed by the World Bank Group for a period of two years.<\/p>\n<p>The two-year ban took effect on September 24, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The World Bank said Zoomlion needed to demonstrate full and satisfactory compliance with the World Bank Integrity standards in order for the ban to be lifted.<\/p>\n<p>The bank said Zoomlion had itself acknowledged wrongdoing and had accepted full responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a case where a company under a World Bank investigation is demonstrating responsibility for wrongdoing by enforcing disciplinary action and committing to a new standard of integrity governing its operations,\u201d said Leonard McCarthy, World Bank Integrity Vice President.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPromoting this type of corporate responsibility while holding companies accountable for wrongdoing is one of the strategic pillars of the World Bank\u2019s anticorruption strategy,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>myjoyonline<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{{The World Bank Group has placed a ban on Zoomlion Ghana Limited for two years over alleged bribery in Liberia.}} The bribery allegation involved the World Bank-financed Emergency Monrovia Urban Sanitation Project.
