{"id":104,"date":"2011-05-02T19:25:33","date_gmt":"2011-05-02T19:25:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/erlinder-might-face-law-in-rwanda\/"},"modified":"2011-05-02T19:23:20","modified_gmt":"2011-05-02T19:23:20","slug":"erlinder-might-face-law-in-rwanda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/erlinder-might-face-law-in-rwanda\/","title":{"rendered":"Erlinder might face law in Rwanda"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p><strong>Prosecutor General Martin <span data-scaytid=\"7\" data-scayt_word=\"Ngoga\">Ngoga<\/span> has insisted that genocide denier, Peter <span data-scaytid=\"10\" data-scayt_word=\"Erlinder\">Erlinder<\/span>, might be summoned soon to answer cases related to both genocide denial and ideology.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The American lawyer was recently declared unprofessional by the International Tribunal for Rwanda in <span data-scaytid=\"11\" data-scayt_word=\"Arusha\">Arusha<\/span> (<span data-scaytid=\"12\" data-scayt_word=\"ICTR\">ICTR<\/span>), and his views as a defense lawyer at the tribunal were considered hoax.<\/p>\n<p>According to <span data-scaytid=\"8\" data-scayt_word=\"Ngoga\">Ngoga<\/span>, the latest developments add more credence to Rwanda\u2019s efforts to summon the embattled lawyer.&nbsp;However, the chief prosecutor did not give a specific timeline for the summons but observed that there was progress. <\/p>\n<p>He further pointed out that due to <span data-scaytid=\"13\" data-scayt_word=\"Erlinder\u2019s\">Erlinder\u2019s<\/span> habit of ignoring court summons, Rwanda might use the Interpol to apprehend him, \u201cWe believe we have concrete evidence which makes it hard for him to escape <span data-scaytid=\"1\" data-scayt_word=\"justice.\u201d\">justice.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Reacting to critics who argue that <span data-scaytid=\"14\" data-scayt_word=\"Victoire\">Victoire<\/span> <span data-scaytid=\"15\" data-scayt_word=\"Ingabire\u2019s\">Ingabire\u2019s<\/span> case is lingering, <span data-scaytid=\"9\" data-scayt_word=\"Ngoga\">Ngoga<\/span> was quick to blame foreign countries like Switzerland and Belgium for delaying to handover some of the essential evidence. Even though there are less interests from concerned nations, <span data-scaytid=\"16\" data-scayt_word=\"Ingabire\">Ingabire<\/span> will still appear in court on 16 May 2011. \u201cWe believe we have enough evidence to start the case but in the meantime, we\u2019re still finding ways of how evidence obtained by Switzerland and Belgium would be released <span data-scaytid=\"2\" data-scayt_word=\"soon.\u201d\">soon.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He however pointed out that other countries like <span data-scaytid=\"3\" data-scayt_word=\"D.R\">D.R<\/span> Congo, Burundi and Holland have been cooperative. \u201cNetherlands, for instance, has handed out evidence obtained from both witnesses and frequent searches in her house.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prosecutor General Martin Ngoga has insisted that genocide denier, Peter Erlinder, might be summoned soon to answer cases related to both genocide denial and ideology.
