{{Kenya’s National Assembly has been recalled for a \u2018special sitting\u2019 this Thursday to discuss a Motion that seeks Kenya\u2019s withdrawal from the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.}}<\/p>\n
A gazette notice issued by Deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso says the sitting has been convened in accordance with Standing Order 29(3) of the National Assembly.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is notified that a special sitting of the assembly shall be held in the National Assembly Chamber in the Main Parliament Buildings, Nairobi on Thursday, 5th September 2013 at 2.30pm,\u201d the notice says.<\/p>\n
The purpose of the \u2018special sitting\u2019 will be to consider a Motion relating to the membership of the Republic of Kenya to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.<\/p>\n
The sitting comes as Deputy President William Ruto prepares to travel to The Hague for the opening of his trial set for September 10.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
