{Chile reiterated its support for the candidacy of Angola to a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2015-2016 period. }
This was expressed last Tuesday, in Luanda, by the Chilean President, Michelle Bachelet, when speaking at the opening of official talks between ministerial delegations of Angola and Chile, as part of her state visit to Angola, held from 11 to 12 of the current month, at the invitation of the Angolan Head of state, José Eduardo dos Santos.
“We will support the entry of Angola in the Security Council of the United Nations, as non-permanent member, and continue to work to approach and establish a South-South cooperation to promote mutual development and contribute to make our planet a better place for all, “she said.
This determination is reinforced in the joint statement, read by the director for America issues of the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Francisco da Cruz, after the signing ceremony of a co-operation agreement between the oil companies Sonangol (Angola) and ENAP (Chile).
Sonangol (short for National Fuel Society of Angola) is a state-owned oil company responsible for the management and exploitation of oil and natural gas in Angola, and ENAP is Chile’s national oil company owned by the government.
