Paris {{(AFP)}} -{ Belgian singer Stromae has been forced to cancel a series of concerts, including a gig in Rwanda where his father died in the 1994 genocide, after an adverse reaction to anti-malaria medicine, his producers said Sunday.}
Stromae, who rose to international prominence with his 2013 album “Racine Carree”, began a tour of Africa on May 13 in the Senegalese capital Dakar, which had been due to culminate in the Rwandan capital Kigali next Saturday.
But he had to pull out of a concert in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, on Saturday after returning to Europe with health problems, promoter Alain Yav said.
Medical examinations showed that Stromae, whose real name is Paul Van Haver, “is suffering from the serious secondary effects of anti-malaria treatment,” his producers explained Sunday.
His health will need to be monitored in the next few weeks, forcing the cancellation of all his concerts until early August.
The cancelled gigs included appearances at the Wireless Festival in London on July 5 and at the giant Benicassim festival in Spain on July 17, as well as a gig at the Nos Alive Festival in Chicago on August 2.
The local promoters in Rwanda said they had received a large number of phone calls from worried fans.
“People are mainly worried about his health. I realise how much he is loved in Rwanda,” said Judo Kanobana, the head of Positive Production.
The 30-year-old Belgian, who has found runaway success with his danceable, at times philosophical tracks, had said before his Dakar concert that going to Rwanda would be an emotional experience for him.
“As I get closer and closer to Rwanda… a lot of things are going to come out (in me) and honestly, I don’t know what to expect.”
Having achieved fame in Europe and Africa, Stromae is due to play his biggest concert yet in the United States, at Madison Square Garden in New York City in October.
Stromae has also collaborated with US rap superstar Kanye West, who performed with him at the Coachella festival in California in April.

Late Rurangwa Yves known as Jimmy died on Sunday the 7th June after spending a night with Anitha and some other friends in the bar.
He had a sudden death that made the police invest to what may have killed him since he had on other sickness.
Late Jimmy was buried yesterday on the 9th June and Anitha wrote some words that actually moved many people about the death of this gentleman.
On her social networks she said,”Jimmy God called you very soon but it’s okay I have a lot from it brother, I know if you were alive you would be fighting for me and telling the truth”.
Jimmy was a very close friend to Anitha and his death has left her in hard conditions.

The Police Spokesperson in Western Province Supt Emmanuel Hitayezu told IGIHE that Young Grace is currently detained at Rubavu Police Station waiting to be transferred to Kigali where the crime took place.

In other countries, you will find artists and other well-known public figures getting in touch with their fans through the social media unlike Rwandese but the application of Instagram has changed quite a lot and many of the Rwandan artists are now aware of its importance where they use it day by day to keep their followers updated.
Instagram is an online mobile photo-sharing, video-sharing and social networking service that enables its users to take pictures and videos, and share them on a variety of social networking platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Flickr.
Instagram was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, and launched in October 2010. The service rapidly gained popularity, with over 100 million active users as of April 2012 and over 300 million as of December 2014.
Instagram started getting used in Rwanda in 2014 but it gained popularity towards the end and up to now it is one of the most used social media all over the country and mostly especially by the youth.
Artists have now adopted the culture of sharing their news, images and videos through Instagram and here is the top five of artists that are more followed than others in Rwanda.

In a Facebook post Affleck gave his take on the request to scrub his ancestry, found in the Sony Wikileaks archive in a conversation between studio chief Michael Lynton and show producer Louis “Skip” Gates Jr.
“I didn’t want any television show about my family to include a guy who owned slaves. I was embarrassed. The very thought left a bad taste in my mouth,” Affleck wrote.
“Skip decided what went into the show. I lobbied him the same way I lobby directors about what takes of mine I think they should use. This is the collaborative creative process,” Affleck continued.
“Skip agreed with me on the slave owner but made other choices I disagreed with. In the end, it’s his show and I knew that going in. I’m proud to be his friend and proud to have participated.”
The correspondence saw studio chief Michael Lynton and show host Henry Louis Gates Jr. discuss a request from the star to remove the ugly bit of family history.
“For the first time, one of our guests has asked us to edit out something about one of his ancestors — the fact that he owned slaves,” Harvard scholar Gates Jr. said in the thread, sent in July 2014.
Lynton advised Gates to “take it out if no one knows, but if it gets out that you are editing the material based on this kind of sensitivity then it gets tricky. Again, all things being equal I would definitely take it out.”
As the episode aired without any such reference to Affleck’s family, PBS announced Tuesday it would be investigating the matter.
“PBS and WNET are conducting an internal review led by our respective programming teams of the circumstances around the ‘Finding Your Roots’ episode ‘Roots of Freedom,‘” the public broadcasting network’s statement began.
“This matter came to PBS’ attention on Friday morning, April 17th. Professor (Henry Louis) Gates and his producers immediately responded to our initial questions. In order to gather the facts to determine whether or not all of PBS’ editorial standards were observed, on Saturday, April 18th, we began an internal review. We have been moving forward deliberately yet swiftly to conduct this review.

It’s important to remember that this isn’t a news program. Finding Your Roots is a show where you voluntarily provide a great deal of information about your family, making you quite vulnerable. The assumption is that they will never be dishonest but they will respect your willingness to participate and not look to include things you think would embarrass your family.
I regret my initial thoughts that the issue of slavery not be included in the story. We deserve neither credit nor blame for our ancestors and the degree of interest in this story suggests that we are, as a nation, still grappling with the terrible legacy of slavery. It is an examination well worth continuing. I am glad that my story, however indirectly, will contribute to that discussion. While I don’t like that the guy is an ancestor, I am happy that aspect of our country’s history is being talked about.
