  • “The left out Music genres ” in Rwanda

“The left out Music genres ” in Rwanda

After years of counting growth in the different sectors in Rwanda, the growing music industry has been stuck on only three genres(Afro-beat, HipHop and RnB) for years as recognized by all music award givers in this country.

This is not because there are no other musicians to create music in the remaining different genres like Zouk, Reggae, Dancehall, Rock among others. Sad to say, but the Rwandan music fan base looks like they enjoy and miss the involvement of these “left out genres”.

So evident during the concerts where dancehall superstars from other parts of the world like Bennie man, Sean Paul, Shaggy, Elephant manhave driven the Rwandan crowds to excitement.

Not forgetting how group Kassav left a Zouk story to tell by their fans in Rwanda. Alpha Blondy and the African reggae Legend Phillip Lucky Dube(RIP) also shared their Reggae music with Rwandans but still all the genres in which these guest artists sing, are not recognized as much as they are highly enjoyed by the fan base.

Speaking to one of the HipHop artists from the group Tuffgang, Green.p this is what he said, “HipHop, RnB and Afro-beat music are highly recognized because they were made known to Rwandans at a time when the media its self was being privatized.” Now many years later and they are still the only recognized genres.

Master.P a music producer from Alpha and Omega studio says “We produce these “left out genres” every day for musicians but still they never get recognized like the three awarded genres. This discourages some musicians”

An interview with a Rwandan dancehall/Reggae upcoming artist Vaga Vybz, this is what he had to say, “Dancehall and Reggae music are highly enjoyed by Rwandan but this type of music still lacks a platform in this country for the musicians to fully showcase their talents for their fans.”

My advice is we should not rely on only three recognized genres in a whole country of talented people. This limits music business and discourages music investors. If this sector is to grow too, it is now time to embrace and involve these other left out genres in our music packages for Rwandans. It is also time for Rwandan music to cross boarders and impact on different types of people. With different types of genres you can impact on different types of people.

  • Kim Kardashian Accused of Faking Her Baby Bump in New Selfie

Kim Kardashian Accused of Faking Her Baby Bump in New Selfie

    {Kim Kardashian has been accused of faking her baby bump following the latest selfie she shared on Instagram on Monday night, July 27. Kim posted a picture of her cradling her baby bump while posing in front of a mirror wearing a tight white dress. “Good night baby,” she captioned it.}

MediaTakeOut pointed out that Kim’s belly looked bigger in the photo than she was photographed earlier in the day. The site claimed Kanye West’s wife was faking her pregnancy by wearing prosthetic belly. “We TOLD YOU … We Told You That Kim Kardashian Has Been Wearing A PROSTHETIC BELLY … And She’s Not Really PREGNANT … Now We Got THE PROOF!!” wrote the site.

The site continued, “MediaTakeOut.com told you a few months back, that Kim Kardashian was likely FAKING her pregnancy … word is that she hired a SURROGATE to carry her baby. Now there’s PROOF. Yesterday Kim K slipped up … and wore the WRONG PROSTHETIC BUMP when she went out. You see, earlier in the day, she posted a pic of herself on Instagram wearing her 6 MONTHS ALONG belly. But later, when she went out … she wore a MUCH SMALLER prosthetic – more like her 4 month along prosthetic. The size difference was VERY OBVIOUS. It’s gotta be tough keeping track of all them PROSTHETIC BABY BUMPS.”

An insider told HollywoodLife.com that Kim didn’t fake her pregnancy as her feet and ankles have been swelling since she continues to wear heels during her second pregnancy. “Kim thinks the whole ‘fake’ baby bump controversy is hysterical. If anyone doesn’t think she’s pregnant they should take a look at her swollen feet and legs.”

“She’s been smarter about what she eats and is continuing to exercise this time around so she’s not as big as she was with North,” the insider continued, “But that doesn’t mean she isn’t feeling bigger all over. She’s not getting mad though as she thinks it’s funny. Kim and Kris love that she’s being kept in the news by something so silly. Kim can’t take all the sexy selfies she likes to take when she’s not pregnant so having this baby bump controversy is actually a blessing.”

  • Big Brother Africa canned over ‘cash constraints’

Big Brother Africa canned over ‘cash constraints’

Cape Town – M-Net and Endemol Shine Africa’s Big Brother Africa on DStv has been canned for 2015 apparently due to “cash constraints” and a failure to find sponsors.

Anne Sackey, the manager of MultiChoice Ghana, spilled to Razz newspaper that M-Net told them there won’t be a new season of Big Brother Africa (BBA) this year. She thinks it is because of sponsorship constraints.

“I think it’s mainly because of cash constraints as we all know the show is very expensive to put up,” Sackey reportedly told Razz.

Big Brother Africa and Big Brother Mzansi, both produced for M-Net channels in South Africa by Endemol Shine Africa remain mired in controversy.

Last year the 9th season of Big Brother Africa was postponed by a month after a devastating fire swept through the Sasani Studios complex with the blaze which caused millions of rands of damage. Endemol Shine Africa refused to disclose the cause of the fire as the production moved to another house.

Sudden dramatic changes to South African visa regulations as well as Ebola fears last year this time also saw chosen Ghana contestants dumped from the show, followed by Sierra Leone and Rwanda as countries being eliminated as well before possible housemates from there had even entered the house.

Last year during South Africa’s Big Brother Mzansi season on the Mzansi Magic and Big Brother channels, a male contestant was removed after hitting a woman in the show, which M-Net called “an isolated incident”.

In April this year, the latest Big Brother Mzansi season exploded in controversy over alleged rape when a male contestant bragged how he “dipped her” when he allegedly had sex with a drunk and passed out female contestant who was horrified about what she was told happened.

Endemol Shine Africa removed both from the reality show competition after the alleged sexual misconduct which lead to criticism and calls for M-Net and MultiChoice to end the misogynistic and voyeuristic reality show “which keeps encouraging and rewarding” violence and sexual misconduct against women.

M-Net and the production company decided to monitor alcohol consuption more closely in the booze fest series shown across multiple channels on MultiChoice’s DStv platform.
