The Commissioner of Yambio County in South Sudan, Kuze John, told journalists that the Ugandan militias have killed one person and abducted thirteen others in the state.

He explained that the incident took place at Nabiapai Boma along the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). He warned that more reinforcements will be sent to the area of the incident.

Mr. John added that at least one LRA fighters had also been killed in cross fire with armed local people.

“Yesterday at around 11pm again, after the first abduction that took place around 7pm, they came back and I think in the process, our boys laid an ambush and they clashed with them,” the commissioner stated.

“One of the insurgents lost his life and also one of our boys got killed in the process too. But as I talk now, security in Nabiapai is tight, and there is no need to panic as we are sure that the LRA elements will be pursued up to where they are,” he further threatened.
