{{Peter Mutharika, the acting president of Malawi’s Former ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has handed himself in to Police today in Blantyre city and has been immediately driven to the Capital city Lilongwe 362Km away.}}
Malawi Police arrested Mutharika on an arrest Warrant issued on him in connection with the transition plot he is suspected to have been part of immediately after the death of his brother President Bingu wa Mutharika in April 2012 due to heart attack.
The acting DPP president said that Mutharika had not been charged by Police but he was prepared for anything.
He said Police have advised him that he was being transferred to Police Headquarters in Lilongwe where he is expected to be interrogated.
“We will be leaving for Lilongwe because everyone else here has been moved there. So we will be going there in a few minutes. We are just waiting for transport,” he said today morning.
He said he was prepared for everything and will abide by whatever procedure the Police will have.
