Tanzania:Salva Rweyemamu leaves State House

{THE Presidential Communications Director at the State House, Mr Salva Rweyemamu ,yesterday announced that he was leaving the post after expiry of his contract.}

Mr Rweyemamu, a veteran journalist and publisher, had served on the position for over eight years under President Jakaya Kikwete. “I am happy to leave office after my service for all these years.

I am profoundly grateful to President Kikwete and his successor, Dr John Magufuli, for their trust on me,” he said in a brief statement.

He called on the public to ignore earlier reports on social media on his departure from the State House. “The truth is that during my eight plus years at the State House, I have signed several contracts, the last one expired on September 11, this year and was renewed for A further 62 days.

This ends on Tuesday (today),” read the statement. “I would also like to thank all the State House staff under the leadership of, first Chief Secretary, Philomen Luhanjo and now Ambassador Ombeni Yohana Sefue, for their unwavering support over all these years. They have been exceptional” said Mr Rweyemamu.

“Finally, I owe huge gratitude to my friends and colleagues in the media for their support,” he added. Mr Rweyemamu formerly worked for several years with Uhuru Publications, owned by the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM).

He was later involved in establishing Habari Media Group, publishers of Mtanzania, the African, Rai and Dimba in late 1990s as managing director.
