Eduardo dos Santos and Jacob Zuma Discuss Matters of Common Interest

{{Luanda }} — {The Angolan President, José Eduardo dos Santos, held this Monday at the protocol residence of the Talatona Convention Hotel in Luanda, a private meeting with his South African counterpart, Jacob Zuma, with whom he discussed matters of bilateral interest in view to strengthening the existing relationship between both countries.}

The two leaders at the meeting of about 30 minutes also reviewed issues related to the region with highlight to the recent events in Burundi, where there was an attempt of military coup, and other international issues.

Jacob Zuma was in Luanda to attend , as an observer, the summit of the Heads of State and Government of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).

The meeting, which ended Monday, analyzed the current state of security and humanitarian situation in this sub-region of Africa, with special focus on Burundi, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan and the threat of terrorism in the region.

Angola, under the President José Eduardo dos Santos, chairs the two-year term of ICGLR since January 2014.

ICGLR comprises Angola (host), Burundi, the Central African Republic (CAR), Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania and Zambia.
