Recovering Tanzania leader moved to special US hotel

{Tanzania’s President Jakaya Kikwete was Wednesday transferred from the Johns Hopkins Hospital in the US to a nearby hotel.}

The President left the hospital where he underwent a successful prostate surgery last weekend to the special hotel for recuperating VIPs.

The facility, according to a statement sent to newsrooms Thursday, is located near the hospital.

President Kikwete will continue to receive treatment while at the hotel that is associated with the hospital.

Dressed in a stripped T-shirt and a long black coat, the President looked jovial as he left the hospital.

He was in the company of his medical team, aides and some family members, including his wife, Salma.

The statement from the Directorate of Presidential Communications said since Saturday when the surgery was performed, the President had been responding well to treatment.

It added that President Kikwete was walking as part of his therapeutic treatment.
