Nyiramahirwe Esther who was kicked in the lower abdomen had borrowed a pen from the boy.
The incidence happened at Nzige sector in Rwamagana district. The two children were both pupils at GS Akanzu Primary school.
The acting Police Spokesperson of Eastern Province IP Emmanuel Kayigye confirmed the incidence adding that the boy was currently being kept at Nzige Police station to prevent any revenge.
IP Kayigye noted, “we have not arrested the boy. He has been taken to Nzige police station for his safety to avoid any revenge attacks. He has not been arrested because he is a minor”.
School sources told IGIHE that although the deceased had borrowed a pen from the boy, the two classmates were actually playing at the time of fateful incidence.
It’s noted that when the girl was kicked, she became unconscious but later died in hospital.
The school head teacher Rukundo Jean Damascene expressed shock at the rare incidence.
The two pupils were also neighbours at their respective homes.
Burial was scheduled for Friday after post-mortem results from the hospital
